Tournament Rules

CPYC One Day Fishing Tournament Rules

1. Eligibility: All members, their immediate family, significant others, and guests, are eligible to register for these tournaments.

2. Registration: All contestants must sign up according to the posted individual tournament registration dates. If you do not sign up by the posted deadlines you may not be able to collect prizes, gifts, food, etc.., which are part of that tournament.

3. Tournament date, start times, and weigh in times will be posted per tournament event. All start times are lines in.

4. Entry fee will be posted per tournament.

5. Fishing Area: Departing Fisherman and boats must pass thru or fish within the 3 New Haven Breakwalls. All fish must be caught within Long Island Sound and its tributaries. The eastern boundary line is from the mouth of the Connecticut River to Orient Point. The western boundary is the Norwalk Islands to Eatons Neck Long Island. The Southern boundary is the North Shore of Long Island.  The Northern boundary is the first dam, fish ladder, or tidal gate, of each tributary.  Fishermen and boats must return to CPYC East or West by water. Fish can be transported from CPYC West to CPYC East by car to be weighed.

 6. Catch Method: All fish must be caught by the contestant using a rod and reel or hand line. All state and federal fishing regulations must be followed.

7. Weighing of a Fish: All fish must be weighed in on the designated CPYC scale, witnessed, and immediately recorded on the proper tournament board. In the case of a tie, the fish that was weighed in first prevails. Any fish that looks altered, mutilated, or frozen will be disqualified.

8. Charter boats: Any contestant that weighs in any fish caught from any charter boat is ineligible for this tournament.

9. Conflicts and Protest: Any protest or conflict will be resolved by the CPYC fishing committee.  All decisions made by the committee will be final.

CPYC All Year Fishing Tournament Rules

1. Eligibility: All members, their immediate family members, and significant others are eligible to register for the all year tournament.

2. Registration: All contestants must sign up by June 1st. They must wait 24 hours to weigh in any fish.

3. Fee: Entry fee is per contestant. All contestants must pay including children. Please pay at the bar in the fishing corner.  Fill out the provided envelope, place money in the envelope, and put the envelope in the fishing box.  All registered contestants are eligible for a prize at the end of the year party.

4. Dates: April 1st – October 31st.
